QI Portal User Feature
The T1DX-QI Portal has been adding features and enhancements over the years to assist you in your QI work. As a result, we thought it would be a fitting time to revisit the T1DX-QI Portal User Feature. If you'd like to be spotlighted in your very own interview, please reach out to QI@t1dexchange.org and we can share the questions with you. And, as always, signing up for the portal is fast, easy, and can be done by following this link.
Name: Allison Smego, MD
Site: University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital
What is your favorite feature in the QI Portal and why?
The Compare tab is my favorite feature on the portal as it allows our team to assess progress over time on a variety of measures. Comparing our data against others in the collaborative helps us identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Practically speaking, which feature (in addition to the above) do you use most often and why?
The “QI Portal Library” has been very helpful to reference. It brings together articles and resources that help inform current and potential future QI projects. I especially like the change packages and QI tools.
How does the QI Portal support your improvement efforts?
The Improve function is a handy way to be sure we are keeping track of PDSA cycles (and all of the thought and planning that goes into them) over time. I even got an email reminder when I had forgotten to update on a project that I had projected would be moving toward completion.
What do you dream the QI Portal could do that it doesn’t do currently?
I think I remember reading in the past that someone suggested a “highlight reel” from the past year and I thought this was a really good idea.

Question:
Does anyone know if “Care Gaps” in Epic can be customized? Is it possible to add things such as back-up insulin etc for people with type 1 diabetes?
