Earlier this month I announced my resignation from T1D Exchange effective February 4th, 2025. It has been a great honor to serve the diabetes community and the T1DX-QI collaborative for the past seven years. In the coming weeks I will be announcing my next steps and you can be assured that I will be remaining in the diabetes space.
Together we achieved a lot during my tenure as I highlighted in my November 2024 collaborative talk, which is also summarized below. As our T1DX-QI collaborative grows, it is important we continue to champion quality and equity beyond our network. Last year, I had the distinct honor to serve as a subject matter expert with the ADA Standards of Care committee where I had the privilege of championing two new approved standards:
Standard 1.5 Health systems should adopt a culture of quality improvement, implement benchmarking programs, and engage interprofessional teams to support sustainable and scalable process changes to improve quality of care and health outcomes. Evidence Level A
Standard 1.6 Health systems should assess and address disparities in diabetes care and health outcomes (e.g., by stratifying clinical quality data by factors such as insurance status, race, ethnicity, preferred language for health care discussions, disability, and other social determinants of health). Evidence Level C
Quality Improvement and addressing health equity is now a diabetes standard of care, thanks to your hard work.
It's been a great run, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead, and I would love to continue to stay in touch with you all. You can connect with me via LinkedIn and/or osagie.ebeks@gmail.com.
With sincere gratitude,
Osagie Ebekozien, MD, MPH, CPHQ

Q&A Corner
There have been several newly asked questions on the internal member website. Please use this link to respond and see all questions.
Question:
Does anyone have experience supporting their associated medical school’s free clinic with diabetes care? I want to develop some educational curriculum and resources to help them optimize their patients with diabetes and would love to hear about anyone’s experiences. Also if anyone has a similar need we could collaborate in developing a curriculum or advocacy packet.
I’d like to develop a checklist of skills and competencies for success on HCL that can be used to be sure we’ve provided patients and families with all appropriate education prior to pump start. Does anyone use something like this to ensure all skills for success are taught, reinforced or reviewed prior to pump start?
