ADA Scientific Sessions Recap
At the ADA Scientific Sessions in Chicago, we shared our work to advance diabetes care in 13 posters and presentations, covering topics from CGM adoption in people with T2D using GLP-1s to real-world insights into mental health, screening, and health equity.

T1DX-QI New Team Member
Claire Rainey recently joined T1D Exchange as a Quality Improvement (QI) Analyst. She graduated from Elon University in May 2025 with a B.A. in Statistics and Public Health and a minor in Economics. During her time at Elon, Claire conducted research in the Statistics Department, completed practicums in both Statistics and Public Health, and tutored student-athletes in Statistics and Economics. She also studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark where her coursework focused on comparing European and American healthcare systems and included clinic visits in Denmark, Estonia, and Finland. Claire brings a strong foundation in data analysis and public health, and as someone living with type 1 diabetes, she is especially passionate about
contributing to T1D Exchange’s mission. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active at the gym and traveling to connect with friends and family.
QI Portal Users Feature
The T1DX-QI Portal has been adding features and enhancements over the years to assist you in your QI work. As a result, we thought it would be a fitting time to revisit the T1DX-QI Portal User Feature. If you'd like to be spotlighted in your very own interview, please reach out to QI@t1dexchange.org and we can share the questions with you. And, as always, signing up for the portal is fast, easy, and can be done by following this link.
Names: Kristina Cossen, MD
Site: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
What is your favorite feature in the QI Portal and why?
I have always enjoyed the Comparison Dashboard. Being able to compare our site to similar practices highlights the opportunities within our clinic for improvement. We also use it when we have clinical questions or uncertainty about our patient population. Being able to track the patient outcomes overtime is great to see if your QI projects have unanticipated benefits.
Practically speaking, which feature (in addition to the above) do you use most often and why?
I have recently started focusing on using the IMPROVE function. I find how the QI tracking is displayed for cycle monitoring helps me focus the next steps in our projects. It is also helpful to see what other groups are working out outside my small work groups!
How does the QI Portal support your improvement efforts?
The IMPROVE function is so simple to use and track data. I like being able to have the project parts delegated and documented all in one place.
What do you dream the QI Portal could do that it doesn’t do currently?
I would like to see if the QI Portal has the option to notify you of significant changes within your population, either positive or negative. I think this would bring issues (or successes) to attention faster!
Q&A Corner
There have been several newly asked questions on the internal member website.
Question:
How often do members of the Collaborative ask their pediatric patients to complete a depression screening?
Name: Barbara Liepman RN MS CDCES CHWC
Clinic: UCSF Health | Benioff Children's Hopsitals
Question:
How do you all handle your overnight calls? With difficulties in fellowship recruitment, our attendings take 1st call from the hospital, ER and the floor. We have a nurse line for our parent calls so that has reduced some burden. Is anyone using APPs or an Endo nocturnist for overnight hospital calls?
Name: Abha Choudhary, MD
Clinic:University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center - Peds
Please reach out to Abha Choudhary directly at
abha.choudhary@utsouthwestern.edu to respond to her question.
