Introducing: T1DX-QI Office Hours
Message from Jenise Wong, MD, PhD (T1DX-QI Medical Advisor)
"I would like to kindly invite any member of the T1DX QI Collaborative to join me during open biweekly “office hours” on the 1st Thursday of the month from 9-11am PT or the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 1-3pm PT. I will be available to get to know your QI teams, listen to your concerns, and address questions about QI projects and other initiatives. Please feel free to use this time to discuss any challenges with or suggestions for the T1DX. The goal of this open time is to understand your experiences with the Collaborative, hear your thoughts, and incorporate your feedback to enhance your involvement with the Collaborative. Our goal is to make your participation worthwhile for your QI teams, improvement work, and your patients. You are welcome to message me ahead of time or simply join me during any open time."
Note: For May, Tuesday office hours will be held on the 4th Tuesday (May 26) instead of the 3rd. The Zoom link below reflects this update.

Want to learn more about one of our committees? The Clinical Leadership Committee, co-chaired by Francesco Vendrame, MD, PhD and Carla Demeterco-Berggren, MD, PhD, brings together pediatric and adult clinical leaders from more than 60 endocrinology centers nationwide. Together, they focus on driving targeted improvements and advancing health equity for people living with diabetes.
By bridging high-level strategy with real-world change, the Clinical Leadership Committee plays a key role in transforming care.
T1D Exchange is looking for health care professionals to share their perspectives on referring stage 3 T1D patients to disease-modifying therapy (DMT) clinical trials.
For this opportunity, we are looking to include staff from centers that have recruited for DMT clinical trials and staff from centers that have not recruited for DMT clinical trials in a focus group.
Who is eligible?
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you…
Are a Physician, NP, PA, CDCES, Dietician, research coordinator, or DMT trial researcher
Interact with newly diagnosed Stage 3 pediatric T1Ds
Interested in participating?
If eligible, you would participate in an online focus group with multiple other healthcare professionals, led by the T1DX-QI/Research team. The focus group is expected to last 90 minutes and will be audio/video recorded. If you are eligible and participate in the focus group, you will be compensated with a $200 electronic gift card.
Your participation means that we will gain knowledge about how centers currently recruit stage 3 T1Ds for DMT trials. We are grateful for your contributions.
If you are interested in participating, see if you are eligible. If you are eligible, you may receive a follow-up email about scheduling a focus group.

Name: Lori Benzoni, MPH
Center: NYU Langone Long Island, Pediatrics
Question: We’re in the process of revamping and updating our new onset Type 1 Diabetes materials and would really appreciate learning from what others are doing. If other centers are willing to share their current new onset materials—such as folders, packets, or website links, that would be greatly appreciated to give us some ideas?
Name: Jeannine Leverenz, RN, CDE
Center: Stanford Medicine Children's Health
Question: We have many requests for school and college accommodations. What are the usual accommodations you include in your DMMP/school plan or college accommodations letters?
