QI Portal User Feature
1. What is your favorite feature in the Portal and why?
I love being able to create reports to see how data for certain metrics are changing over time.Sometimes with running QI projects- with the small, incremental PDSA cycles, it is hard to see the impact without looking at the reports. Looking at a timeline and how the data is changing helps to connect how the QI projects are impacting our metrics over time in an easy and accessible way.
2. Practically speaking, which feature (in addition to the above) do you use most often and why?
The ranking tiles are helpful to see a snapshot of how we are doing as a site compared to the rest of the exchange, although sometimes it can be intimidating. However, I’ve found that looking at the metric tiles on the home page to see the collaboration average percent vs our own sites percent is helpful. Although we are being ranked, sometimes the ranking isn’t where we want to be, it is good to see that we are still making improvements, even if they are small right now.

3. How does the Portal support your improvement efforts?
The best thing about being part of the T1DX-QI is that we can see what other sites are doing to reach the collaborative’s metrics. The resource library is especially helpful to utilize when we are attempting to build further PDSA cycles that we may have not thought of prior to using the resource library.
4. What do you dream the portal could do that it doesn’t do currently?
It would be cool to add in our PDSA cycles directly into the portal so we can track data and QI projects in one place. It would be so helpful to see the reports with data and the potential reasons why our data is changing as we run QI related to these metrics.
Q&A Corner
There have been several newly asked questions on the internal member website. Please use this link to respond and see all questions.
New Questions:
Question:
What QI resources and support do you have for QI efforts in your center and/or division? I recognize this will be highly variable based on clinic size and institutional resources, but I am curious about: (1) faculty support for QI efforts (FTE, protected time), (2) involvement of your clinic leadership (medical or associate medical directors) on the QI team, (3) who are the clinic/staff members on your team, (4) support and protected time for QI team members, (5) institutional resources available to you beyond your clinic or division, and (6) anything else? Please feel free to reach out individually, if more appropriate. Thank you!
