Collaborative Updates

The T1DX-QI annual survey will be live 8/15/2022 - 9/15/2022. This survey helps us understand clinic structure, capacity and awareness of special projects and allows us to produce more publications in 2023! Each site will receive a pdf version along with the survey link to confer with their team on responses. Please only submit 1 survey per site.

    Friends for Life!

Our team member Holly was able to attend the Friends for Life conference and meet up with Dr. Daniel DeSalvo and parent/patient advisor (and FFL co-founder) Jeff Hitchcock! We love seeing our collaborative members in person!

    QI Portal User Feature

    Name: Liz Mann

Site: University of Wisconsin/ UW Health Kids

Years with the T1DX-QI: 1 year

    Mann, Elizabeth (1)

1.What is your favorite feature in the Portal and why?

I really like building and using the reports feature. The ability to easily splice the data by variables like insurance type or language or self-identified race/ethnicity is so helpful to visualize where disparities and opportunities exist in our system.  I use this feature most often because it allows me to create dashboards for our clinic stakeholders.

    2. Practically speaking, which feature (in addition to above) do you use most often and why?

    (same as question 1)

    3. How does the Portal support your improvement efforts?

I have just started using the reports function to support our advocacy efforts with Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the state’s Medicaid program to improve coverage and reduce barriers to CGM to all patients with type 1 diabetes. We have also shared the data with the ADA who is supporting us in our local effort to lobby our MA program.

    4. What do you dream the portal could do that it doesn’t do currently?

I am very interested in our pediatric type 2 diabetes population as well, and I would love our pediatric patients with type 2 diabetes to be represented in the portal. Our local QI efforts in type 2 diabetes are not as well coordinated because of the time and energy it takes to obtain data on our metrics. I appreciate that the T1DX QI Collaborative is exploring funding opportunities to support work in this population!

    Events & Reminders

    Upcoming Opportunities

1.) The University of Michigan School of Nursing is recruiting healthcare providers (physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant) who regularly provide care for young adults (18-25) with type 1 diabetes. The short zoom call will determine is  a video intervention is effective at increasing healthcare provider awareness of how to improve language to reduce type 1 diabetes-related stigma. Use this link to find out more information on the flyer!

2.) Albert Einstein College of Medicine is recruiting young adults to participate in their ReDUCe (Reducing diabetes distress using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)  study. Please use this link to find out more information.
