T1DX-QI Center Visit
Thank you Barbara Davis Center!
Dr. Osagie Ebekozien and Ann Mungmode had the privilege to visit with Dr. Todd Alonso, Dr. Halis Kaan Akturk and the rest of the Pediatric and Adult Team. Dr. Ebekozien had the honor of speaking at Grand Rounds and Ann had the opportunity to do some live QI coaching. Thank you to both teams for the warm hospitality.
QI Portal Plot
As of this month, 20 projects across the T1DX-QI have been uploaded to the QI Portal! Hear what your colleagues are saying about the new Improve tab:
"The improve tab is a great new feature that allows me to be able to keep all my QI tools and diagrams in one place. I am able to better monitor our projects since I can include all of the PDSA cycles and pull in any pertinent metrics related to any project. It's an all-in-one tab that I definitely will be using more of in the future."
"The improve tab has been tremendously helpful for organizing our teams' thoughts surrounding PDSA's. The questions asked really streamline our projects and keep us on track. I especially like the feature that allows you to decide the "state" of the PDSA. It's a great reminder that cycles can be adapted or abandoned if the QI needs adjustment."
"[I] have had a positive experience entering our data so far. It is easy to add PDSA cycles and edit both the project and PDSA information. I love that there is an area to upload your own documents to a project since I have generated a number of supplementary documents over the course of this project."
Use this feature as a shared space for QI projects updates and documents, track PDSA cycles, and share improvement activities with your T1DX-QI coach! Get started today! https://qi.t1dplatform.org/auth/login
Q&A Corner
There have been several newly asked questions on the internal member website. Please use this link to respond and see all questions.
New Questions:
Question:
Looking for diabetes peer curriculum and looking to see if anyone has Endocrine fellow training curriculum in diabetes technology.
Name: Nana-Hawa Yayah Jones
Clinic: Cincinnati Children’s
Question:
In the last year, we’ve established a Moderate Care Unit to care for patients with mild-moderate DKA on our general pediatrics floor. Do any other sites have any experience with managing DKA and/or an insulin drip outside of the ED or PICU? If so, what does your process look like? And how do you think it has improved your care for patients with diabetes?
Name: Ashley Garrity, MPH
Clinic: C.S Mott Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan
Question:
I am wondering if there is a resource or any clinic site that may have a list of questions and/or a questionnaire that we can distribute to patients to get their input about how we can best help them to manage their diabetes. We received a DEI grant to apply towards helping to decrease the % of public pay patients with A1c’s greater than 9. We have purchased gift cards and medical center parking vouchers to offer patients who respond to some questions or a questionnaire. Now we just need to figure out how to best go about figuring out what questions to ask!
Name: Barbara Liepman, RN, MS, CDCES
Clinic: UCSF Pediatrics
