Portal Plot
Portal Plot: QI Portal Demo Video
All T1DX-QI participants can access the QI Portal to compare data across clinics and access the Library for Resources. Data-mapped sites can also access the Dashboard and create reports on key metrics. To refresh on features available in the QI Portal, click here to watch this 5-minute demo video. Need a refresher on a specific Portal feature? No problem! Just select the “chapter” you are interested in viewing in the video description (Intro, Dashboard tab, Compare tab, Report tab, Library tab).
QI Portal User Feature
Name: Sarah Thomas
Site: Barbara Davis Center Pediatrics
Years with the T1DX-QI: 5 years
What is your favorite feature in the Portal and why?
My favorite feature of the portal is the ability to download real time data to show our clinic. We have sent out multiple mass communications to staff about where we are at with certain measures, and it’s been awesome being able to get the data so quickly to share with leadership – they have always been really impressed!
What do you dream the portal could do that it doesn’t do currently?
Sometimes (depending on the measure) it would be nice to adjust the percentages on the vertical axis – for example, with Hba1c >9% graph doesn’t rise above 60% in any clinic, so I’d prefer to reset my axis to 60% so I could get a better feel for upward or downward trends on the graph (easier to pinpoint trends on the graph when they are blown up a bit). I know you all have been working hard on this, and I’m excited to see when that becomes available!
Practically speaking, which feature (in addition to above) do you use most often and why?
I usually use the Comparison Reports feature the most often, especially tracking our clinic A1c. It has been really cool to see that downward trend over the years. CGM use is another report we routinely download, and the stark upward trend of CGM usage is great to display alongside our A1c graph.
How does the Portal support your improvement efforts?
Quality Improvement is all about the data, and having that data in real time is important for us to know what improvement projects we should be focusing on. For example, our depression screening rates have been stagnant for quite some time, and compared to other clinics we are performing relatively low – seeing this inspires us to make a larger push for troubleshooting new ideas on how to get those screening rates up.
The T1DX-QIC would like to thank Sarah Thomas for 5 years of contribution and hard work to promote quality improvement. As we are sad to see her leave Barbara Davis Center and the QIC we wish her well on her future endeavors.
