New Questions:
Question:
For the pediatric centers: Currently at Cook the diabetes educators take any urgent call from Friday at 5pm-Monday at 8am and will also do inpatient education for newly diagnosed patients. I am trying to change the call portion and wanted to see if anyone had information I can benchmark from.Who is responsible for your weekend and holiday diabetes calls? Do the CDCES, fellow’s, endocrinologist, triage nurses (used for PCP or all specialties) take calls? Additionally, how do you handle new onsets on weekends and holidays? Do the diabetes educators perform new onset education on the weekends and holidays? Thank you!

Question:
At UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals we are looking at improving the workflow of assisting our pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes who are going in for a procedure. We wanted to see what the workflow is at other facilities. How are endocrine providers notified a patient is going in for a procedure? Who is responsible for notifying the patient/caregiver of the pre-op instructions?
Any insights, protocols, policies, workflows you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
