Clinical Leadership Committee Co-Chairs
Dr. Todd Alonso, Barbara Davis Center, Pediatrics
My areas of interest are clinical education and quality improvement. Currently I serve as director of education for the pediatric service at the center, precepting student and resident learners who rotate through our clinic. I am also the faculty sponsor for the medical students’ diabetes interest group and medical director for our ADA sponsored diabetes camp, Camp Colorado. I serve on the Children’s Hospital Colorado Insulin Safety and MyChart Stakeholder committees at Children’s Hospital Colorado, Chair the Barbara Davis Center Quality Improvement Committee, and serve on the Barbara Davis Center IT Committee.
Dr. Devin Steenkamp, Boston Medical Center, Adult
Devin Steenkamp is an endocrinologist with a particular interest in type 1 diabetes and atypical diabetes phenotypes such as monogenic diabetes. He is the Director of the Clinical Diabetes Program in the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine and his clinical practice and research interests are focused on the application of diabetes technologies in care

Dr. Shideh Majidi, Children's National, Pediatrics
Shideh Majidi, M.D., M.S.C.S., is the associate director of the Childhood and Adolescent Diabetes Program at Children’s National Hospital. Her primary clinical and research interests are in behavioral and psychosocial aspects of care in youth with type 1 diabetes. She also has a strong interest in building and improving diabetes clinical programs to ensure all diabetes patients receive complete and individualized diabetes care.
For Dr. Majidi, one of the best parts of working in the diabetes field is being able to work with families and patients throughout their childhood. Each patient and family is unique, and her passion is to continuously strive to ensure her patients receive the best care possible for their individual and unique diabetes needs.
Dr. Shivani Agarwal, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Adult
Shivani Agarwal, MD, MPH, is Associate Director of the Fleischer Diabetes Institute, Director of Type 1 Diabetes Programs, Director of the Supporting Emerging Adults with Diabetes (SEAD) program, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Extending from her clinical focus, Dr. Agarwal’s research concentrates on clinical and behavioral interventions in young adults with type 1 diabetes, as well as racial and socioeconomic disparities in type 1 diabetes especially with regards to use of diabetes technology. She serves on the American Diabetes Association Healthcare Disparities Committee, the Endocrine Society’s Innovative Models in Diabetes Care Task Force, and the Advocacy and Public Outreach Core Committee (APOCC). She is currently funded by the NIDDK, JDRF, and Helmsley Charitable Trust.

Dr. Marina Basina, Stanford Health Care, Adult
Dr. Basina is a clinical endocrinologist and clinical researcher with a focus on diabetes management, thyroid, and adrenal conditions. Her primary interests are in Type 1 Diabetes, Diabetes technology, and Diabetes in pregnancy. Dr. Basina is Board certified in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. She received numerous teaching awards and Stanford Hospital award for excellence in patient care. She is an active member of medical advisory boards for several community diabetes organizations. Dr. Basina is a medical director of inpatient diabetes program at Stanford and a chair of diabetes task force.
Dr. Joyce Lee, University of Michigan C.S Mott Hospital, Pediatrics
Joyce Lee, MD, MPH is the Robert P. Kelch Professor of Pediatrics at Michigan Medicine. She is a Pediatric Endocrinologist and clinical/health outcomes researcher who is passionate about the importance of design in healthcare, through the application of a learning health systems framework. She holds leadership roles at Michigan Medicine as ACMIO, Associate Director for Informatics and Clinical Research Innovation for the Caswell Diabetes Institute (CDI), and Associate Chair of Health Metrics and Learning Health Systems. She has particular expertise in development of Epic EHR based tools and Tableau dashboards to support operations, quality, and research. She has over 130 peer-reviewed publications, has served as a Principal Investigator on multiple NIH grants and was a visiting scholar at Verily. Her current research focuses on how to leverage health information technology and computational approaches to solve real world healthcare problems.

Dr. Carol Levy, Mount Sinai, Adult
Dr. Carol Levy is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
As the Director of the Mount Sinai Diabetes Center and Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Research, she is known as a clinical expert in type 1 diabetes and diabetes in pregnancy and leads a clinical team of physicians and CDCES’s. She mentors and trains numerous faculty and fellows. Her clinical and research interests include technology use for diabetes management and diabetes during pregnancy. She leads her research team evaluating many artificial pancreas and glucose sensor studies including an NIH funded project evaluating a customized closed loop system specifically designed for pregnancy. Her goal is to improve the lives of people with diabetes.
Dr. Daniel DeSalvo, Texas Children's Hospital, Pediatrics
Dr. DeSalvo is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital where he serves as Director of Strategic Collaboratives and Type 1 Diabetes Clinic Lead. As a pediatric endocrinologist, his greatest passion is helping others live well with diabetes and he considers it a remarkable privilege to shepherd families on their diabetes journey. As a patient-oriented clinical researcher, his work focuses on the application of novel technologies for improving diabetes management outcomes and reducing the burden of care for people with diabetes. He currently serves on the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative, Beyond Type 1 Scientific Advisory Council, and College Diabetes Network Clinical Research Advisory Committee.
