QI-Newsletter-2021

November

2023

Congratulations, outcomes are improving for people with type 1 diabetes!

2023 has been a very productive year for our T1DX-QI network, with 23 papers published in major journals, including Nature, Lancet, and Diabetes Care!

We are very excited to share our recent milestone paper demonstrating significant improvement (mean HbA1c reduction) in glycemic outcomes for people with type 1 diabetes now published in Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics (DTT). Use this link to view the paper.

Ebekozien, O, Mungmode, A, Sanchez, J, Rompicherla, S, Demeterco-Berggren, C, Weinstock, R, Jacobsen, L, Davis, G, McKee, A, Akturk, H.K, Maahs, D, Kamboj, M. Seven Years Trends (2016-2022) in Glycemic Outcomes and Technology Use for Over 48,000 People with Type 1 Diabetes from the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative. DTT 2023.

This paper is significant because it changes the narrative of the 2019 T1D Exchange Paper by Nicole Foster et al, also published in DTT, that showed worsening HbA1c trends 2010-2018.

There have been no other major multi-center US based paper showing improvement in HbA1c outcome in the US until our recent paper. Our work is making a major difference and improving outcomes.

We look forward to celebrating our collective success at New York later this month.
